DKS blames HDK for rejection of proposal to rename Ramanagara district

The Hindu

Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC president D.K. Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Mr. Shivakumar said the matter falls under the State list and he would pursue the matter of renaming the district. The Union Home Ministry rejected the proposal submitted by the State government following Mr. Kumaraswamy’s opposition to it, Mr. Shivakumar said. The State Cabinet in July 2024 decided to rename Ramanagara district as Bengaluru South. The proposal was cleared ahead of the Channapatna byelection, which had ruffled the feathers of the BJP-JD combine whose erstwhile coalition government, led by the then Chief Minister, Mr. Kumaraswamy, had carved out the district in 2007.
