After more than a year as the head of Wilcannia Central School, Nadia Mills says it is among the most rewarding positions of her life and wants to help give local youth more opportunity. Key points: Nadia Mills started working at Wilcannia Central School in 2022 She is passionate about educating communities with large Aboriginal populations The community has been happy to welcome its new long-term residents Ms Mills first visited Wilcannia in New South Wales' far west when she was 14 years of age and returned multiple times over the years for hunting and camping trips while living in Renmark over the South Australian border. Plans for the future Ms Mills said she was happy with what she had accomplished so far, but there was still more to be done to ensure Wilcannia's youth maximised their potential. " "We're just trying to give the kids a vision for their future to see themselves as happy, successful, productive members of this community, and to see school as something that's important to their future lives," Ms Mills said.
