Oncologists of repute handling different specialities will meet here for a three-day conclave ‘Cancer CI-2013’ beginning Friday and deliberate on how to use emerging technologies to reduce radiation impact and improve quality of life of patients. The focus now is on improving quality of life in people undergoing chemo and radiation therapy,” Vijay Anand Reddy, Chairman, Cancer CI-2013 Organising Committee explained. The 5th edition of the biennial event organised by Apollo Hospitals Education and Research Foundation deals with a broad spectrum of topics in the treatment of head & neck, brain, gynaec and gastrointestinal cancers, said Dr. Reddy, adding that over 2,400 registrations including those from 1,100 oncologists were received. Among experts who will participate in the deliberations are Dr. Karyn A. Goodman from Memorial Sloan Kettering, USA, an authority on gastrointestinal cancers, Dr. Stephen M. Hahn, an expert in Protons, GI and Lung Cancer from Philadelphia, Dr. Patrick Kupelian who deals primarily with Prostate Cancers from Los Angeles, Dr. John Suh from Cleveland who works on cancers of the Central Nervous System and is an expert in Stereotactic Radio-Surgery and Dr. Prabhakar Tripuraneni, a specialist in Head & Neck and Neuro Oncology.
