More kitchen spices recalled due to dangerous amounts of cancer-causing lead
Daily MailTwo more products are being added to the widespread recall of cinnamon over fears they are contaminated with elevated levels of lead. The FDA said Gutierrez Distributor of Passaic, NJ, is recalling El Servidor Corp and Gutierrez brand ground cinnamon which may contain the metal linked to cancer and other health problems. The El Servidor Corp cinnamon, sold to consumers in New York in a 1.5 ounce bag beginning in January 2024 In March, two more lots of cinnamon products were recalled and earlier this month, additional products were added. The El Servidor Corp cinnamon was distributed in retail stores around New York, beginning in January 2024, and is sold in a clear 1.5oz bag. The Gutierrez Distributor has reported no illnesses associated with the contamination, instead saying that independent testing conducted by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets prompted the recall.
