Police book family of five for cheating BDA
The HinduThe Seshadripuram police have registered a case of cheating and forgery against a city-based businessman and four of his family members for cheating the Bangalore Development Authority by getting five sites using forged documents. Though the incident occurred between July, 2001, and March, 2003, it came to light when BDA officials, based on a tip-off, assigned the Vigilance Department to verify the facts. The department confirmed that the accused Anil Kumar Agarwal, and his family members, Sonu Agarwal, Ram Prathap Agarwal, Santhosha Devi Agarwal, and Snehalatha Agarwal, created fake documents to get the sites at Anjanapura and Banashankari. The probe also revealed an alleged nexus and negligence on the part of BDA officials concerned for not doing due diligence and verifying documents before allotting the sites.
