Rahul Gandhi says Maharashtra man killed due to Dalit identity, BJP hits back
India TodayA political row erupted after Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Monday visited the family of a man who died in Maharashtra's Parbhani and alleged that he was "killed by police" as he was a Dalit and was protecting the Constitution. Speaking to reporters in Pune, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, "Rahul Gandhi came only for political reasons. Reacting to the Congress leader's allegations, Fadnavis said, "If it is proved that the death occurred due to police assault, then no one will be spared". Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule also slammed the Congress leader for politicising the issue and said, "Rahul Gandhi is a very dramatic person who has never worked in governance or administration, so he lacks understanding.
