Apartments and terraces to be built around 171 NSW transport hubs under new low and mid-rise housing reforms

More apartment buildings and terraces will be able to be built around 171 transport hubs under new reforms, which the NSW government says will deliver 112,000 new homes. Minister for Planning Paul Scully said the changes were expected to deliver 112,000 new homes over the next five years. According to the state government, two out of 33 councils in Sydney allow for terraces and townhouses in low-density zones, and residential flat buildings are prohibited in 60 per cent of all medium -density homes. Mr Scully said the new policies would also apply to heritage conservation areas but said the current requirements for development approval in those areas won't change.
