Commanders GM Adam Peters’ to-do list: Hiring a head coach is just a start

New general manager Adam Peters immediately jumped into the Washington Commanders’ head-coaching search following his official hiring. Here’s a look at 10 matters Peters and the organization must tackle this offseason: Hire a head coach Washington has completed virtual interviews with the seven candidates it sought meetings with, in addition to scheduling second in-person interviews with at least Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, per league sources. Multiple league sources cite Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as the one to beat for Washington’s opening despite no previous head-coaching experience and only two years as a coordinator. Washington also previously held virtual interviews with Quinn, Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and Ravens defensive line/associate head coach Anthony Weaver, per league sources and reports. The left side of the offensive line likely has two new starters in 2024, unless the final year of left tackle Charles Leno Jr.’s contract is restructured to reduce his $15.5 million salary-cap charge.
