What schools leavers and high school graduates are anxious about going into 2021

Arki Twyford got early acceptance to study arts at the University of Sydney, but after this year she's having second thoughts. Between the uncertainty of employment options and the skyrocketing prices of an arts degree after the Federal Government's "job-ready" graduate package was introduced, her passion seems less viable than this time last year. Sydney student Patrick Vizy wanted to get into a trade for years, but looking for work in his final year was harder than expected. Christa Hubik, who graduated last year, was supposed to spend 2020 at Melbourne Zoo and travelling Japan for three months — but it all "went down the drain". Mr Vizy said it's been a challenging year, but his cohort — who have survived lockdowns and online learning already — can serve as role models for future Year 12 students.
