DGP warns misuse of ambulance sirens

Deccan Chronicle

HYDERABAD: Director General of Police Anjani Kumar warned ambulance drivers of strict action if they use the siren when they are not responding to an emergency. He shared a video of an incident in which an ambulance belonging to a private hospital, with its siren blaring, was given traffic clearance but stopped at an eatery to buy snacks. The police had recently launched a campaign to stop ambulance drivers from switching on the siren to make their way through traffic. Narayanguda traffic station house officer S. Venkanna said the police had initiated action against the driver.
