Trump strips legal status of 530,000 migrants, paving way for mass deportations

The Donald Trump administration on Friday announced that it will revoke legal protections for 530,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans in the United States, potentially setting them up for deportation in about a month as the US president expands his crackdown on immigration. Immigrants from these four countries, who have arrived in the United States since October 2022 with financial sponsors and were granted two-year permits to live and work in the US, will lose their legal status on April 24 or 30 days after the notice is published in the Federal Register, the Department of Homeland Security announced.
