A man has pleaded not guilty to murdering Scott Johnson more than 32 years after his naked body was found at the bottom of cliffs near Manly, on Sydney's northern beaches. Key points: It's unclear how Scott White and Mr Johnson allegedly came to be at a gay beat together An informant tipped off police to Mr White over the alleged murder last year A $2 million reward was offered for any information that could solve the case Scott White has spent more than eight months behind bars after detectives stormed his Lane Cove apartment and arrested him in May 2020. At the time of Mr White's arrest, Detective Chief Inspector Peter Yeomans said a key informant led police to their suspect. It's unclear how Mr White, 49, and Mr Johnson allegedly came to be at a gay beat in remote bushland at North Head. However, Mr Johnson's brother Steve, a wealthy technology entrepreneur, always suspected his brother had not killed himself and the third inquest, held in 2017, ruled the death was the result of a gay hate crime.
