Every second polled Indian supports CAA, finds Mood of the Nation survey
India TodayThe India Today-Karvy Insights Mood of the Nation survey reveals a change in mood about the Citizenship Amendment Act, the controversial law that had triggered protests across the nation. FULL RESULTS OF THE INDIA TODAY MOOD OF THE NATION AUGUST 2020 Fifty per cent of those polled in the MOTN survey said they support CAA, while 15 per cent think it is discriminatory. 25 per cent of the respondents believe India must not grant citizenship to illegal immigrants of any religion, while 10 per cent remained indecisive on the issue. In the MOTN poll conducted in January 2020, 26 per cent of the respondents believed that the Act was discriminatory. A total of 12,021 interviews were conducted -- 67 per cent in rural and 33 per cent in urban areas -- spread across 97 parliamentary constituencies and 194 assembly constituencies in 19 states -- Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
