Engineering loses its sheen

The Hindu

India has progressed on a global scale with the acceptance of MOOCs. Also, it is difficult to get a job in core field as companies mostly prefer to give opportunities to Tier-one college graduates. Lack of practical knowledge, appropriate job opportunities, useful and analytical curriculum, lack of well-trained faculty, and essential infrastructure are reasons for this. India’s crisis in engineering education scratches out the lack of employability for suitable jobs except for those from prestigious institutes. Laterally, the initiation of Make in India mission with the country’s hope to reap a demographic dividend through its predominantly young population, the attribute of engineering education, plays a spoilsport.
