Jagan Mohan Reddy's party, Nara Lokesh clash over student fee reimbursement dues
India TodayThe YSR Congress Party has raised strong objections to the coalition government’s handling of the education sector, alleging that students are suffering due to stalled welfare schemes. Speaking to the media on Monday, YSRCP spokesperson Jupudi Prabhakar Rao demanded the immediate clearance of pending fee reimbursement dues, which have left students unable to retrieve their certificates from college managements. He pointed out that the dues accumulated during the Telugu Desam Party’s 2014-19 tenure, amounting to Rs 2,800 crore, were cleared by the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government after taking office in 2019. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh accused the previous YSRCP government of burdening the state with Rs 6,500 crore in dues, affecting students and the education sector. Responding sharply to former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s statements on X, Lokesh criticised the previous administration’s “waste governance”, claiming it failed to fulfil promises of fee reimbursement.
