Over 2,000 Refugees Flee Into Mizoram As Fresh Armed Struggle Breaks Out In Myanmar
ABP NewsThousands of Myanmar nationals have entered Mizoram's Champhai district through the international border, following a fresh airstrike by the Myanmar army in the bordering areas along the Indo-Myanmar border. Officers of the Assam Rifles held a key meeting with Mizoram village chiefs and leaders of the Young Mizo Association to discuss the ongoing refugee situation along the border villages, reported news agency IANS. More than 5000 people took refuge in two villages along the border and we also got about 20 civilian injuries - 8 of them are taken to Aizawl for better medical treatment.One succumbed to his stray bullet injuries last evening.Since last night there has been no more commotion at the border.Now it is quite calm but we don't know whether Myanmar Army will attack from the air. Simultaneously, intelligence and media outlets reported that following intermittent gunfire exchanges between the Myanmar Army and the People's Defence Force, the armed wing of the National Unity Government of Myanmar, a fresh wave of refugees sought shelter in the bordering villages of Mizoram.
