Isro to launch NVS-02 on GSLV-F15 to boost Indian constellation: What is NavIC?

The Indian Space and Research Organisation is gearing up for the launch of the NVS-02 satellite aboard the GSLV-F15 mission on January 29. India’s autonomous regional navigation satellite system, Navigation with Indian Constellation, is designed to provide precise Position, Velocity, and Timing services to users within India and up to 1,500 km beyond its borders, the system's primary service area. NavIC offers two types of services: Standard Positioning Service, which provides location accuracy better than 20 meters and timing accuracy better than 40 nanoseconds across the core service area, and Restricted Service, which is a more secure service for authorised users. NVS-02 is the second satellite in India’s new generation of navigation satellites, part of the Navigation with Indian Constellation system. NavIC is India’s regional satellite navigation system, designed to provide accurate positioning, velocity, and timing information for users in India and nearby regions, up to 1,500 km beyond India.
