'It's not a secret': Saracens reject claims they have broken salary cap rules
The TelegraphSaracens insist they are fully compliant with salary-cap regulations, despite Premiership Rugby confirming it will investigate owner Nigel Wray’s business partnerships with a number of the club's England stars. According to a report in The Daily Mail, millionaire property investor Wray has launched different businesses with England captain Owen Farrell, Billy and Mako Vunipola and Richard Wigglesworth, which raises questions as to whether Saracens are attempting to bypass Premiership Rugby’s £7 million salary cap. A club statement also claims that Andrew Rogers, Premiership Rugby’s salary cap manager, has been informed of all these arrangements. These players not only produce results on the pitch, they help entitle the club to £1.2m in credits above the baseline salary cap from the RFU and Premiership Rugby.”
