Akhilesh Yadav responds to archaeological surveys in Sambhal: Digging won't help
India TodaySamajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP of using divisive issues, like conducting archaeological surveys in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal, to divert attention from pressing concerns such as unemployment and the farmers' crisis. Speaking to reporters on Sunday, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister referred to the Places of Worship Act, which seeks to maintain and protect the religious character of places of worship in India. Akhilesh Yadav, referring to the case against Samajwadi Party MP Ziaur Rahman Warq, said, "Be it against the MP or the people in Sambhal, all those cases should be withdrawn". Rejecting any link to the violence, the party MP claimed that the ruling party in Uttar Pradesh was "vengeful" against him, aiming to harass and intimidate him through false allegations.
