Life at LoC after ceasefire: When guns fall silent and development picks pace

India Today

A young boy working at a road construction site at the Line of Control, that divides Kashmir between India and Pakistan, was left with a grievously wounded leg as he was hit by a shell fired by the Pakistani Army. The ceasefire between the Indian and the Pakistan armies at the LoC could bring a new dawn for the village population in forward areas. "Road contractors wouldn't be willing to walk their way up to construct bunkers as any development work is targeted by Pakistan," said Mohammed Tazim. The LoC had been on the edge since the beginning of 2019 after Indian Air Force carried out airstrikes at a terror camp in Balakot in Pakistan in February last year following the Pulwama suicide bombing in Kashmir that killed 40 Indian soldiers from the Central Reserve Police Force.
