NIA uncovers Maoist arms network in Chintoor division
Deccan ChronicleVisakhapatnam:The National Investigation Agency conducted extensive searches across Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha on Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation into the supply of weapons and explosives to Maoist groups. The NIA had registered a First Information Report in September 2024 after taking over the investigation from local police, who had initially apprehended the suspects with a cache of explosives, including fuse wires and detonators. The inquiry has uncovered a significant network responsible for supplying large quantities of weapons and materials to Maoist factions. In recent months, the NIA has intensified its crackdown on Maoist activities across multiple states, aligning with the Indian government’s goal to eliminate left-wing extremism by March 2026.
