Read our privacy policy Former SNP MP Natalie McGarry is to appeal against her conviction and sentencing for stealing thousands of pounds from two political organisations. McGarry, who was the MP for Glasgow East between 2015 and 2017, is serving a two-year prison sentence after being found guilty in May of embezzling £19,974 while treasurer of Women For Independence. The court heard from dozens of witnesses, including former Scottish health secretary Jeane Freeman, who said she reported McGarry after noticing a significant shortfall in WFI accounts.
