Overhaul of environmental laws looks shaky, with 'nature positive' and industrial reforms delayed

ABC

Plans to overhaul the nation's environmental laws have been delayed yet again, with Labor struggling to secure any support for its "Nature Positive" laws. Labor's trouble with environmental reform is compounded by its inability to secure support from either the Greens or the Coalition for its Future Made In Australia policy to accelerate the development of critical minerals needed for the renewable energy transition. Global 'nature positive' summit puts focus on troubled policies At a UN biodiversity conference late in 2022, Ms Plibersek announced Australia would host the next meeting, a "Global Nature Positive Summit", in her home city of Sydney in 2024. Between the watered-down nature repair market and the stalled environment law reforms with the same "nature positive" label, it looks like Ms Plibersek will have limited progress to report as the summit's host.
