Matildas revelation Sharn Freier embraces rapid rise after starring performances against Chinese Taipei

ABC

When the Matildas won the Women's World Cup penalty shootout against France at Brisbane's Lang Park last year, Sharn Freier was at a country music concert 20 kilometres across town. In their final match of the year, the Matildas keep a clean sheet on their way to a thumping 6-0 victory over Chinese Taipei at Geelong's Kardinia Park. "I was at a Luke Coombs concert," admitted Freier, who made her Matildas debut against Mexico earlier this year. Interim coach Tom Sermanni, who debuted Sam Kerr and Caitlin Foord, has admired Freier's "X-factor".
