Two people winched from life raft after plane crashes into water off Queensland's Sunshine Coast

Key points: Two men, both in their 50s, were winched to safety after their light aircraft ditched into the ocean Paramedics say their life raft was taking on water when they were rescued The men were taken to hospital as a precaution, but have since been discharged Emergency services received a distress call around 8:30am Friday from the crew of a fixed-wing Cessna which had lost one of its twin engines while travelling from Caloundra airport to Pago Pago, American Samoa. Michael O'Brien, a QAS flight critical care paramedic, said the two men were in good spirits when they were rescued from the life raft, which was quickly taking on water. "The Royal Flying Doctors giving us that location and us being there within a couple of minutes of them actually getting out of the aircraft made a difference," he said.
