Cowboys Weekend Riffing – Week 2 vs the New York Giants, and a Q&A

51 days since training camp opened in Oxnard, 142 days until Super Bowl 53 in Atlanta, and just two days until the Week 2 game against New York at 7:20 p.m. There isn’t a single team in the National Football League that has played more Sunday Night Football games than the Dallas Cowboys, who will play their 64th Sunday. The Cowboys have won four of the last five Sunday Night games against the Giants after losing three straight from 2009-2011, including the first game ever played in Cowboys Stadium when Eli Manning autographed a column in the visitor’s locker-room, the home meeting in 2011 when Miles Austin lost the ball in the lights, and the 2011 play-in game in Giants Stadium which was actually played on New Year’s Evening on January 1st, 2012. Since then, Dallas has managed narrow wins in 2013, 2014, and 2015 from Tony Romo-led teams against the Giants, a 2016 Sunday Night win in New York where the Cowboys offense could not do anything right, and then the season opener in 2017 where the Cowboys defense stuffed the Giants to the tune of 19-3. In eight of the last nine regular season games, the Cowboys have only one performance that exceeds the league average in yardage – that day at Giants Stadium.
