Layoffs: Nissan Motor To Reduce Or Relocate 1,000 Jobs In Thailand, Says Report

Nissan Motor Co plans to layoff or relocate around 1,000 employees in Thailand by fall 2025, media reports said citing industrial sources. Nissan’s sales in Thailand plunged 29.7 per cent to 14,224 vehicles in the 2022-23 fiscal year in comparison to a year-ago period. Notably, earlier in the month, Nissan Motor announced that it would cut down jobs for 9,000 individuals and also downgraded its annual forecast for the second time in the year. Nissan will restructure its business to become leaner and more resilient while also reorganising management to respond quickly and flexibly to changes in the business environment.” The firm clocked an operating profit of 32.9 billion yen in the July-September quarter, plunging 85 per cent from 208.1 billion yen in the corresponding quarter a year earlier.
