Wait for one week, it is almost over: SC Bench on Jaya DA case
The Supreme Court on Monday told the Karnataka government to wait for another week for the judgment on appeals filed by the State against the acquittal of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in a disproportionate assets case. Ghose said "wait for one week, it is almost over.” Karnataka, represented by senior advocate Dushyant Dave, made an urgent mention, saying "we are concerned about the judgment,” which was reserved on June 7, 2016. The hearing was on the special leave petitions filed by Karnataka against the May 11 High Court judgment setting aside the trial court decision of September 27, 2014 to confiscate the immovable properties allegedly held by the four accused. In his reply, senior advocate Harin Raval for Jayalalithaa questioned Karnataka's locus standi to file an appeal against the High Court judgment setting aside the attachment of the companies' assets.
