'India's duty to stand up for right': Priyanka Gandhi calls for Gaza ceasefire
India TodayCongress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday called for an urgent ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in Gaza and questioned India's stand in the conflict. Priyanka Gandhi noted the casualties in the ongoing bloody battle between Israeli forces and Hamas and asked the international community to unite against killings. Priyanka Gandhi's remarks came as the United Nations chief, for the first time in his tenure, invoked Article 99 of the UN charter and urged the council of matters to "help avert a humanitarian catastrophe and appeal for a humanitarian ceasefire to be declared. Meanwhile, seemingly rigid in his conviction to "wipe out Hamas", Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, "A difficult war is yet before us, but in the end, we will be victorious."
