Two-week warning: Observations from Arizona State’s open basketball practice

New York Times

TEMPE, Ariz. — Hard to believe, but college basketball is just about here. On Friday, the Arizona State men’s and women’s teams will participate in “MoonLIT Madness,” a free event scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Friday on the corner of Sixth Street and College Avenue. Even though he transferred from Ohio State, I don’t include Luther Muhammad among the “transfer guards” because he arrived in 2020. The 6-6 forward, who returned for his extra “COVID-19” season, has battled confidence issues throughout his Arizona State career, but he’s coming off a fine stretch from the end of last season. Aside from Boakye, Hurley doesn’t need to rely on his five-man freshman class, but it looks like Jamiya Neal has played his way into the rotation.
