Railways take up feasibility survey for track realignment near Mysuru airport

The Hindu

Technical issues which evaded solution for completing the railway track electrification work near the city airport is likely to be resolved in due course, with the authorities set to opt for either track realignment or take up underground construction. The track electrification work between Mysuru and Chamarajanagar has been completed at a cost of nearly ₹20 crore, but a short stretch near the airport at Mandakalli has not been taken up as the Airport Authority of India has refused to issue No Objection Certificate to proceed with the works. The railway authorities have invited tenders for conducting feasibility survey for shifting of the existing railway alignment near the affected area close to the airport. S. Yogendra, a railway activist advocating greater railway connectivity as mass transport system, said introduction of MEMU trains has also been affected due to non-completion of track electrification.
