The top 10 things children get stuck up their nose, according to Queensland Children's Hospital

Young children are notorious for the things they stick up their noses that often end up in a trip to a doctor's surgery or hospital emergency department. "That child was really starting to complain of headaches, that they couldn't smell, and they were starting to get some very bloodstained snot coming out of the right side of their nose," said Dr Jones, chair of child and young persons health for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. The problem is common enough that the Queensland Children's Hospital has compiled a list of the top 10 things children poke up their noses that end up in a trip to the facility's emergency department. "Children never cease to astound me with their ability to put random things up their nose," QCH paediatric emergency physician Dr Aaron Johnston said. "Around 80 per cent of objects will pass through the body without causing harm, but there's always a risk that some may become stuck or cause internal injuries," he said.
