Townsville University Hospital apologises after alleged sexual assault of nurse

ABC

The chair of the board of North Queensland's largest hospital has publicly apologised to a nurse who was reportedly sexually assaulted by a patient and promised a full review. Acting Townsville Hospital and Health Service chief executive Stephen Eaton confirmed the patient was still being treated at the hospital with increased security measures. "The level of staffing, whether that's health security or one-to-one staffing, this is the additional workforce we are putting around the environment at the moment," he said. 'Whatever we can do' Health Minister Shannon Fentiman said former sex discrimination commissioner Elizabeth Broderick had been asked in March to review the safety and wellbeing of all Queensland Health staff.
