NSW records no new cases of COVID-19 as restrictions continue
ABCNSW has recorded no new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8:00pm Friday night. Sydney hotel quarantine data Photo shows people wearing masks and pulling bags with wheels walk on the footpath COVID-19 cases acquired in India are escalating in Sydney's quarantine hotels, but are yet to exceed the number of infections from the US, NSW Health data shows. NSW Health introduced additional COVID-19 restrictions this week, which have fallen during Mother's Day weekend, including limiting the number of people inside homes to 20, and mandatory mask-wearing indoors. Epidemiologist Professor Mary Louise McLaws said it will be a fortnight before Greater Sydney can say it has avoided more locally acquired coronavirus cases. "Some people even with a high viral load don't necessarily spread it as effectively as some others, but it doesn't mean that we won't maybe see another couple of cases and in the next seven to 14 days."
