Totally against 4-day Tests, hope ICC is not even considering it: Nathan Lyon
India TodayWhile the proposal for 4-day Test matches in World Test Championship cycle from 2023 has left the cricket fraternity divided, Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon has said he is "totally against" the idea. While 4-day Tests got International Cricket Council approval as early as 2017, it has been reported that the ICC Cricket Committee is planning to recommend mandatory 4-day Tests during the 2023-2031 World Test Championship cycle. While England and Wales Cricket Board said it would "cautiously consider" the idea of mandatory 4-day Tests, Cricket Australia chief executive Kevin Roberts said it needs to be looked at with facts and not emotions. Nonetheless, Nathan Lyon said some of the best Test matches in the last decade have gone into the 5th day and that 4-day Tests will see a lot more draws.
