Commanders two-round mock draft reaction: Drake Maye at No. 2, but then what?

The Washington Commanders are days away from naming a head coach. That’s because this is a year where three quarterback prospects — USC’s Caleb Williams, North Carolina’s Drake Maye and LSU’s Jayden Daniels — likely go off the board quickly. They include trading down for a significant asset haul of more picks or grabbing offensive line help, or Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. Peters wasn’t looking that far away. With Williams off the board, the Commanders would draft Howell’s college replacement and turn that player into an apprentice, competition or the Week 1 starter. Oregon’s Bo Nix and Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. are potential Day 1 targets overall or early second-round options should the Commanders wait on a passer.
