Night curfew in Manipur, gatherings restricted in Meghalaya: Northeast reimposes curbs amid Covid spike
India TodayAmid the deteriorating Covid-19 situation in India as positive cases continue to rise, the Northeast states have re-enforced restrictions to curb the spread of the deadly virus. In the past 24 hours, Assam has reported 639 Covid-19 positive cases with a positivity rate of 2.74 per cent and six patients died due to the deadly virus infection. Meanwhile, the Assam government has decided to shut all lower primary schools up to Class 5, including pre-primary schools, till May 8 in districts that have more than 100 active Covid-19 cases. MEGHALAYA BANS GATHERINGS In the last 24 hours, Meghalaya had reported 73 fresh Covid-19 cases and a 74-year-old woman died due to the virus infection. On the other hand, Nagaland Sunday reported 19 new Covid-19 cases and the state government has reduced the number of attendees at social, religious, academic, cultural, political gatherings by 50 per cent.
