In a first, BBMP classifies several street vending spaces in Bengaluru as heritage

For the first time, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has categorised vending zones across the city during its survey to identify street vendors, and several markets have been designated as heritage sites. As per the draft survey report accessed by The Hindu, markets have been classified into seven categories — Heritage Market, Natural Market, Bus Stand, Platform, Footpath, Weekly Market, and Others. While the BBMP has not disclosed data for other zones, an official stated that at least five locations in each zone have been marked as heritage markets. Vending areas near bus stands are classified as Bus Stand Markets while locations where vending occurs only once a week are labelled as Weekly Markets.
