CIA's 'Virus Report': A political farce, a scientific joke
China DailyOn January 25, the CIA's declassified report on the origins of COVID-19 was released and its content is utterly absurd. Joint expert teams from the World Health Organization have conducted multiple in-depth investigations, clearly concluding that it is "extremely unlikely" that the virus was transmitted to humans through a laboratory. The international authoritative medical journal the Lancet published an article in August 2024 titled "COVID-19 Origins: Plain Speaking is Overdue." Speaking of laboratories, the U.S.'s Fort Detrick biological laboratory is a "time bomb." In July 2019, Fort Detrick was suddenly shut down for "not having adequate systems to purify laboratory wastewater," but the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention refused to release further details.
