Italian journalist under arrest for more than a week in Iran, says Italy

ROME -An Italian journalist has been under arrest in Iran for more than a week, Italy's foreign ministry said on Friday, adding it was following the case with the "utmost attention". Italian journalist under arrest for more than a week in Iran, says Italy Cecilia Sala, 29, works for newspaper Il Foglio and for podcast company Chora Media. Chora Media said Sala had left Rome for Iran on Dec. 12 with a valid journalist visa and had conducted several interviews and produced three episodes of her "Stories" podcast. Chora said news of her arrest was not immediately made public as her family and Italian authorities had hoped that keeping it quiet could help secure her swift release.
