T.N. police disburse compensation to victims of crime expeditiously

The Tamil Nadu police have adopted a new scheme to disburse compensation in nine working days to victims/dependents/legal heirs who have suffered loss or injury as a result of crime and require rehabilitation. Since this process was time consuming, the applications were sent through the Commissioners/Superintendents of Police in a centralised manner within nine working days, and orders issued through e-office. In the same period, ₹60.75 lakh was given in rape cases, ₹7.55 lakh in dowry harassment cases, and ₹52.65 lakh in road accident cases, among others. The police also processed compensation to victims of acid attacks and child labour, the release said.
