Ola and Uber are to be grilled by Central Consumer Protection Authority, but why?
India TV NewsOla and Uber's drivers have faced massive backlash because of ride cancellations, cancellation charges, random surge pricing and long waiting times. Earlier also, the CCPA has received numerous complaints of unfair trading practices like cab drivers forcing riders to cancel trips after a long wait, which leads to paying the cancellation charge by the customers. Despite the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines 2020, 71 per cent of customers state that the ride cancellation issues by drivers continue, according to a survey by community-based social media platform LocalCircles last month. Over 45 per cent of app-based cabs/taxi consumers have stated that they were charged more than 1.5 times in surge pricing despite the threshold being set by the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines 2020.
