Cabinet approves ₹1,810-crore hydropower project in Himachal. And other key announcements

Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved ₹1,810 crore investment for 210 megawatt Luhri stage-I hydropower project on river Satluj in Shimla &Kullu districts of Himachal Pradesh. "Himachal Pradesh will benefit with free power worth around ₹1,140 crore from Luhri stage-I hydro-electric project, during project life cycle of 40 years," the statement said. Cabinet has given its approval for signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization, India, and the United Kingdom Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency on cooperation in the field of medical product regulation. "The MoU will help in establishing a framework for fruitful cooperation and exchange of information between the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization and the United Kingdom Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency of United Kingdom in matters relating to medical products regulation in line with their international responsibilities," read a press statement from the Cabinet. "The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was apprised of signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru and the Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias and the GRANTECAN, S.A., Spain to develop scientific and technical collaborations in the astronomy field,” the statement said.
