How politics of renaming places in MP is going micro

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav, on January 5, announced the renaming of three villages in his home district of Ujjain. While names of towns and even railway stations in Madhya Pradesh have been changed in the past, this is the first time official tweaks have gone micro to the village level. Yadav, who was in Ujjain to inaugurate a school in Badnagar, informed that village Ghazni Khedi would be known as Chamunda Mata Nagri, village Maulana as Vikram Nagar and village Jehangirpuri as Jagdishpur. Ahead of the assembly elections that year, the Chouhan government had also renamed Habibganj railway station in Bhopal on Rani Kamlapati, the Gond queen who ruled the area around Bhopal in the 18th century.
