India Projected to Become World's Third-Largest Economy by 2030
Deccan ChronicleNew Delhi: American credit rating agency S&P Global Ratings said on Tuesday that India will become the world’s third largest economy by 2030 as it forecast the country’s gross domestic product or GDP growth reaching 7 per cent in the 2026-27 fiscal year. “India is set to become the third-largest economy by 2030, and we expect it will be the fastest growing major economy in the next three years,” the ratings agency said in its Global Credit Outlook 2024. Expecting India to be the fastest growing major economy in the next three years, the US-based rating agency said that a major test for the country would be to unlock the ‘immense opportunity’ and become the next big manufacturing hub in the globe. India, with a GDP size of $3.73 trillion at the end of 2022-23 fiscal, is currently the fifth largest economy in the world behind the US, China, Germany and Japan.
