How many times have we faced fraudsters online who claim to give us heavy financial benefits with the ulterior motive to rob us? The owner of the ScamSandwich YouTube channel, known by the moniker “Neld Harris,” has made a career out of exposing online crooks. Reportedly, the YouTuber poses as Neld, an 80-year-old widow from Dallas, and plays along with intricate scammers’ attempts to take over her computer, install malware, and persuade her to give them money. The YouTuber told the New York Post, “I make surrealist phone calls to scammers to bait them into ridiculous situations using voice mods, fake banks, and fake gift card redeems.” Sharing more about how he manages to fool the scammers, the content creator revealed that he identifies the fraudsters by Googling phrases like “Zelle support” and contacting their 1-800 numbers. A source told the publication that, “He’s worn down some to the point of tears, swearing they will give up their criminality and go straight if he’d only leave them alone.” But by that time, he had hacked their computers and downloaded or destroyed all of their data by installing a very dangerous computer virus.
