ECI Reassigns J&K Top Cops in 'Administrative Tone-up' ahead of Assembly Polls
News 18The Election Commission of India has transferred and posted several officers at the levels of senior superintendent of police and superintendent of police across poll-bound Jammu and Kashmir, News18 has learnt. The commission, as per sources, has directed the administration of Jammu and Kashmir to provide a panel of Indian Police Service officers for the posts of SP and SSP in Srinagar, Baramulla, Handwara, and Kupwara by 5 pm on Thursday as the existing officers have been moved. IPS officer Nalin Prabhat has been appointed as director general of Jammu and Kashmir police till September 30, 2024. The poll body has directed that no officer connected directly with elections will be allowed to continue in the present district or revenue district of posting if they are posted in their home district or if they completed three years in that district during the last four years.
