KSRTC buses from the proposed Bannimantap bus stand to bypass Dasara procession route
The proposed design of the new bus stand at Bannimantap by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation ensures that bus movement will bypass the Dasara procession route along Nelson Mandela Road and will not lead to any disruptions during the festivities The new bus stand has received budgetary support and will be built by the KSRTC on its land at Bannimantap at a cost of nearly ₹120 crore. Once completed, it will shift 50% of the load from the existing bus stand, and all Mysuru-Bengaluru non-stop services, long distance services to Shivamogga, Hubballi, and other places will commence from Bannimantap, said Mr. Srinivas. As for the actual capacity, the new bus stand can accommodate up to 75 vehicles at a time and it is proposed to operate about 1,400 departures, according to Mr. Srinivas. The passenger footfall in the existing bus stand is pegged around 1.30 lakh a day and increases by 20% to 30% during holidays and festival seasons with the KSRTC operating around 2,700 trips.
