Adolescent family violence is 'extremely underreported'. This mum is helping break the silence

When Heather* describes the violence she's suffered at home, it's easy to assume she's talking about her partner. " And the actual numbers could be higher — Dr Fitz-Gibbon says adolescent family violence "is extremely underreported". "It isn't a form of family violence that we hear a lot about and that people feel comfortable to talk about," Dr Fitz-Gibbon says. Dr Kate Fitz-Gibbon says more needs to be done to support victims of adolescent family violence. "We don't yet have broad specialised responses to adolescent family violence on offer," Dr Fitz-Gibbon says.
