GroenLinks and SP politicians contribute most in "donations"

Political parties GroenLinks and the Socialists earned the most from their supporters last year, but this is down to compulsory contributions by politicians, according to the latest overview of political donations by the home affairs ministry. GroenLinks MPs and councillors are required to donate 10% of their salary to the party while SP parliamentarians are required to hand over their entire salary and are given €3,276 per month in return. This, says the AD, is notable because the party earned over €1.6 million in 2023, election year, via fundraising events hosted by property tycoon Cor van Zadelhoff. Political parties are required by law to report all donations of at least €10,000 to the ministry within three days of it being paid.
